Work starts on "world class campus" in Lancashire
Work is beginning on the £13 million transformation of Blackburn College into what is described as a “world class campus”.
The new higher education centre is expected to be completed by the end of August next year and will accommodate a larger number of students, forecast to rise by an extra thirty per cent.
The new building includes a curved teaching block and an administrative centre which are linked by a glazed atrium.
The building’s eco-friendly credentials are backed up by the inclusion of a rainwater harvesting system and solar water heating.
This construction is one part of a £38 million project which includes the opening of a new building for 6th formers and a new adult learning centre.
